Class Assignments
During my time as a Media, Self, and Society scholar at the University of Maryland, I completed many fulfilling assignments. Below are some of the more formative assignments that I completed as a Media Scholar.

Semester One
Gen Z Voter Challenge
For this assignment, we were tasked with getting out the vote to Generation Z voters. I chose Instagram as the social media platform that I would reach Gen Z. I created an animation showcasing how much time Gen Z spends on TikTok on average and compared this number to the average time a voter waits to cast their ballot. This assignment displays my creativity and love for art, as well as my commitment to increase Gen Z participation in elections.
BLM Media Coverage & a Discussion with Anika Reed
For this assignment, we reflected on the media coverage of the Black Lives Matter movement and an in-class discussion with Anika Reed. It was interesting to review what aspects of the BLM movement the media had covered and work to detect bias in each source. My biggest takeaway from the discussion with Anika Reed was the need to network in college. Anika stressed the necessity of forming strong relationships with professors, and this piece of advice stuck with me after the discussion had concluded.

Semester Three
In my PSYC354: Multicultural Psychology course this semester, I was assigned to pick an example in media that showcased multiculturalism. I was tasked to identify the element of multiculturalism, explore research articles related to the element, and determine whether or not my chosen media example accurately portrayed this element.

Daily
Journal
Entries
Attached above is daily journal entries from the week that I worked as an intern at Carpet Experts. I included this piece of evidence because it showcases what I did on a day to day basis and displays how some days were drastically different, and how others were almost identical. I included this piece of evidence and not a photo or copy of a bid form because this piece of evidence felt more descriptive and explanatory of my work as an intern at Carpet Experts.
Applying Practicum Experience and Post-Grad Plans
Completing this practicum helped me realize that I do not want to have a desk job where I am completing the same task everyday. I think I would thrive in an environment that is a mixture of office-type work that ranges in its content and hands on tasks, especially ones that involve collaboration with other people. Having given it much thought, I do not think that I will attend graduate school in Fall 2023 following my graduation from the University of Maryland in December 2022. I feel like joining the workforce, perhaps in an a government job in D.C., would better help me understand what career path I may want to pursue. This will help me decide if graduate school if something that could be a part of my future if it would benefit me in the career path that I choose.
