Jordan Homan

I'm currently a Media, Self, and Society College Park Scholar and a freshman at the University of Maryland. I am pursing a degree in psychology and am considering declaring a double major in criminology and criminal justice. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have had to complete my first semester at UMD virtually. Although completing my courses online, I have been able to connect with many of my peers electronically and have loved getting to know my fellow scholars. Through Zoom classes and partner activities inside and outside of class, I have gotten to know some of the students who are in the same position as myself. Even though I have enjoyed my online semester at UMD, I can't wait to meet everyone in person. The content we have covered in the Media, Self, and Society program has been extremely useful and had many practical applications. These include, how to use search engines effectively, and working to detect bias when consuming mass media. As I continue my time at the University of Maryland, I am excited to learn more about media and continue to form lifelong connections to my peers and instructors.
